Paintings 2019

Tempera paintings from the series The Disciples. To me, painting is an intuitive and floating process and the image is born from a wordless inner perception. I try to paint the invisible and create shapes for psychological phenomena. To be able to make any paintings at all I need to be set in the right state of mind. The process is sensitive and is connected to meditation and prayer.

For these paintings have used pigment and eggyolk on boards that I prepared in the same way as icons have been prepared for hundreds of years - with powdered chalk, liquid animal glue and a cloth glued to the board. I learned this method at the Valamo Monastery in the north of Finland.
